Response of wheat genotypes to excess boron estimated by in vitro culture

The objective of this study was to evaluate boron tolerance wheat genotypes using mature embryo culture. analysis involved 79 recombinant inbred lines the International Triticeae Mapping Initiative (ITMI) population and three Serbian varieties with known (B) (Pobeda - sensitive S, Balerina-medium tolerant MT, Nevesinjka T). evaluation performed on a modified MS medium which 15 mM boric acid added. control contained no excess B. Callus fresh weight (CFW) reduction callus (RFCW) were determined after one month cultivation. ANOVA has shown highly significant effect genotype, media, their interaction tissue growth also genotypic RFCW. Majority (39) had reaction boron, twenty-three tolerant, while four them tolerant. obtained results can be potentially used for mapping QTLs associated B in breeding program.
